A Defense of Teaching 'To a daughter leaching home'

In the class of 'ELT English Essay', a professor conducted a survey 'Which poem( is the best among four candidates: 'To a daughter leaving home', 'The Chinese Grandmother', 'Fire and ice', 'The Red Hat'. Suprisingly, around 80% of Education major students chose 'To a daughter leaving home'. They defend their choice by suggesting several different reason.
The most prevalent opinion the students suggested is that it is useful to foster learners' emotional factors. HayeongBack says it would touch their heart and face a turning point to go back to the parents(Back, 2015.09.29) MijungYoon also says it is easy topic in which the students could easily connect their own experiences to the poem. “Also, reading about family love would be a break time to students who are sick and tired of hard studying”(Yoon, 2015.09.29). In this point, HaramSung insists that this poem helps students learn empathy by ‘reminding students of the days when they were little’(Seong, 2015.09.29). I think a majority of others who chose other literaray material agree on this opinion.
The bloggers also varies their opinions in terms of pedagogy. According to Sung, ‘To a Daughter Leaving Home’ is  pedagogically appropriate with the fairly challenging difficulty when we consider the Krashen’s comprehensible input(Sung 2015.09.29). Meanwhile, Back says it is going to give the learners a chance enhancing their creativity(Back 2015.09.29). As for Yoon, in terms that this poem has such a great rhetorical expression, it could be highly recommended to students(Yoon 2015.09.29).
In summary, most of education major students chose ‘To a daughter leaving home’ as the best one among the several candidates. Those bloggers well represent why this poem has to be great material for teaching high school students in many sense.
